Welcome to the March 24 edition of the women's flag football newsletter here at Collegiate Flag Football. This will cover news between March 17 and March 23, 2025. We will take a look at the various stories and happenings across the sport...

4 Schools Adding Flag Football

Cairn University (PA) added women's flag football as a club sport this week. The Highlanders will make it a varsity sport in the 2025-26 academic year and join the United East Conference as the 8th member in spring 2026.

Centenary College of Louisiana became the third Louisiana college to add women's flag football. The other two are Southern University at New Orleans and Xavier University of Louisiana. Centenary (LA) is the second school from the SCAC to announce the addition with Concordia (TX) being the first.

Long Island University (NY) announced the addition of women's flag football, becoming the fourth NCAA Division I school to add a varsity program. Long Island is the second Northeast Conference team to add the sport following Mercyhurst (PA). LIU did not announce any conference affiliation and is expected to compete starting in the 2026 spring season.

PennWest California (PA) became the first PSAC school to add women's flag football. There will be no shortage of flag football opponents in Pennsylvania as there are 17 club and varsity teams scheduled to play by the 2026 spring season. PennWest did not announce a conference affiliation and will begin competing during the 2026 spring season.

Coaching News

Harford Community College (MD) hired Andre Smalls as the flag football program's inaugural coach. Harford will begin competing in the 2026 spring season.

La Sierra University (CA) named Brianne Talboom as the head coach of the flag football program. La Sierra will play its inaugural season in spring 2026.

Ottawa University (AZ) named Marino Lee as head coach. Lee will be the program's first head coach as it begins competition during the 2026 spring season.

Washington Adventist University (MD) selected Alonzo Marshall as head coach. Marshall will lead WAU in its inaugural campaign during the 2026 spring season.

Future Camps and Clinics

Illinois College is hosting a flag football combine on Sunday, April 6. The event will start at 10:45 AM and culminate with the flag football combine from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. Illinois College is located in Jacksonville, Illinois, and is slated to begin competing in flag football during the 2026 spring season.

As noted in last week's rundown, several schools announced dates for future flag football camps. New to the list of clinics is Ottawa University's (KS) coaching clinic on Sunday, March 30, 2025. RSVPs are due by Saturday, March 29 and attendees will be able to see Ottawa's flag football game on Sunday, followed by the coaching clinic.

The University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas, will host the Nike BallHER flag football camp from June 24 to June 26, 2025. Millersville University (PA) is hosting a camp from June 26 through 29, 2025, as noted by Cedar Crest College (PA) in nearby Allentown.

Players of the Week Named

The NAIA's KCAC and Sun Conferences named their players of the week. For the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, Kansas Wesleyan University swept both awards. Ciaran DeCuir was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Angel Roman was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week. In the Sun Conference, Keelin Coleman of Thomas (GA) garnered Offensive weekly honors and Adrianna Cavalotti of Keiser (FL) picked up the Defensive side honors.

The Atlantic East Conference also announced their players of the week and it was a pair of Neumann University (PA) players who took home the awards. Gia Santorello won the Offensive Player of the Week and teammate Kayla Maisch was named Defensive Player of the Week.
