Women's Flag Football Rundown for March 10, 2025
Welcome to the March 10 edition of the women's flag football newsletter here at Collegiate Flag Football. This will cover news between March 1 and March 9, 2025. We will take a look at the various stories and happenings across the sport for colleges and universities starting with some new teams.

6 Schools Add Flag Football for 2025
The week started with six schools announcing they would begin sponsoring women's flag football this spring, thanks in part to funding from the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. Welcome to Augustana (SD), Bethel (MN), Concordia-Moorhead (MN), Gustavus Adolphus (MN), Northwestern-St. Paul (MN), and UW-Stout (WI)!
While the Vikings are helping to launch collegiate flag football in the upper Midwest, the Washington Commanders are looking to support the further growth of high school flag football. The Commanders are hoping to see the three high school associations for the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia sanction the sport in the future.
Atlantic East Media Day
The Atlantic East Conference celebrated the start of its first season with a media day on Monday, March 3 at Lincoln Financial Field. Centenary (NJ), Eastern (PA), Holy Family (PA), Immaculata (PA), Marymount (VA), Neumann (PA), Penn State Schuylkill (PA) will compete in the inaugural AEC season.
CIAA Updates
The CIAA had a few updates starting with Claflin (SC) announcing a new head coach. Perry Brown will lead the Panthers for the inaugural season, which will culminate in April. Bowie State's (MD) press release about their spring schedule revealed that the CIAA Women's Flag Football Championship will be held on Thursday, April 10 and Friday, April 11 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The CIAA also started competition this week with a tournament hosted by Winston-Salem State (NC).
Coaching Hires
Chestnut Hill (PA) announced Melissa Brizzell as the college's first flag football head coach. Chestnut Hill is one of many schools that will begin competing in the 2026 season. The Griffins will compete in the NCAA Division III Atlantic East Conference.
Calhoun Community College (AL) announced Bart Stephenson as the school's inaugural flag football head coach. Calhoun will begin playing in the 2026 season as a member of the NJCAA's Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC).
Speaking of the ACCC, Wallace State Community College (AL) announced Daniel Howard as the college's first flag football head coach. Wallace State will also begin competing during the 2026 season in the ACCC.
KCAC and Sun Name Players of the Week
The NAIA's KCAC and Sun Conferences named their players of the week. Chihiro Iwata of Kansas Wesleyan (KS) was named the KCAC's Offensive Player of the Week while Dejonice Parris of Ottawa University (KS) was named Defensive Player of the Week. For the Sun Conference, Kathryn Hutchinson of Warner (FL) was named the Offensive Player of the Week. On the defensive side, it was Life's (GA) Makayla Modeste picking up the weekly honors.
Future Camps and Clinics
Several schools announced dates for future flag football camps. First up is the Alabama State and Alabama Community College Conference College Showcase on Saturday, March 22, 2025. This one-day showcase will be held in Montgomery, Alabama, and is open to athletes with graduation years between 2025 and 2030.
The University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas, will host the Nike BallHER flag football camp from June 24 to June 26, 2025. Millersville University (PA) is hosting a camp from June 26 through 29, 2025, as noted by Cedar Crest College (PA) in nearby Allentown.
