Welcome to the April 14 edition of the women's flag football newsletter here at Collegiate Flag Football. This will cover news between April 7 and April 13, 2025. We will take a look at the various stories and happenings across the sport...

Additions This Week

Saint Leo University (FL) will add women's flag football for the 2025-26 academic year. Saint Leo is a member of the NCAA Division II Sunshine State Conference.

SUNY Old Westbury (NY) will add women's flag football as a club sport in fall 2025 and transition to a varsity program in spring 2026. Old Westbury is a member of the NCAA Division III Skyline Conference.

Coaching News

Benedictine University (IL) head coach Caroline Schwartz will take on another head coaching role, while remaining with Benedictine. Schwartz will be the head coach at Naperville Central High School in Fall 2025, which is fielding a flag football team for the first time in 2025.

Saint Leo also announced Eli Taliafero will be the school's first flag football coach. Taliafero was previously the head coach of the South Florida women's flag football club team and worked with the NFL Flag of Tampa Bay.

Conference Tournaments

Congratulations to Winston-Salem State for winning the inaugural NCAA Division 2 CIAA Conference Tournament! The Rams defeated Fayetteville State 9-6 in the Championship game on Saturday, April 12.

Gallaudet University (DC) captured the unofficial United East Conference tournament held among the conference's club teams. Gallaudet went 7-0 in 2025, capping the undefeated season with a 38-0 victory over Cairn University in the Championship game. The NCAA Division 3 United East will officially sponsor the flag football beginning next academic year.

The NAIA's Sun Conference tournament begins on Tuesday, April 15, with top-seeded Thomas (GA) hosting the semifinals and championship game after winning the regular season title. Our schedules section has all the conference tournaments slated for April 2025.

Future Camps and Clinics

The New England Patriots will host a Talent ID Camp on Sunday, April 27. The Camp will be held at Gillette Stadium and has a registration deadline of Friday, April 18.

The Indianapolis Colts will also host a Talent ID Camp on Sunday, May 4. This camp is free to attend and will be held at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana. The deadline to sign up is Friday, April 25.

Washington Adventist University will host a women's flag football combine on Sunday, April 27, from 10 AM through 1 PM. The combine will take place in Takoma Park, Maryland, at the WAU turf field. Washington Adventist will begin competing during the 2026 spring season.

From Reinhardt University's social media account: there will be several Flag Football Skills challenges hosted in May at the following cities in Atlanta, LaGrange, and Macon, Georgia.

There will be a College ID Camp hosted by Bruce Mapp in McKinney, Texas, on Saturday, June 14. The "Put HER on the Mapp" camp will provide drills, coaching, scouting, and training sessions. Arizona Christian (AZ), Baker (KS), Concordia (TX), Keiser (FL), Texas Wesleyan (TX), and Saint Mary (KS) will be attending the camp.

The University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas, will host the Nike BallHER flag football camp from June 24 to June 26, 2025. Baker (KS), Mars Hill (NC), and Ottawa (KS) will also have representatives in attendance.

Millersville University (PA) is hosting a camp from June 26 through 29, 2025, as noted by Cedar Crest College (PA) in nearby Allentown.

Houston Texans Expand Flag Football Program

The NFL's Houston Texans are expanding their Girls Flag Football Program to include more than 80 teams throughout Texas. The expansion will include all 25 Houston Independent School Districts (ISD) and their corresponding high schools. The expansion will go well beyond the Houston footprint and include schools in the state capital (Austin) and El Paso. Texas has not sanctioned flag football as a high school sport but the Texans are hoping to change that in the future.
