Future Women's Flag Football Teams

Women's collegiate flag football has continued to grow in popularity since the first NAIA varsity teams began competing in 2021. As of the 2025 season, at least 66 varsity teams are competing, but that number will drastically increase going into the 2025-26 academic year. There are over 70 NCAA, NAIA, and junior colleges set to add women's flag football over the next few years.

Please note that club teams are not included, however, we encourage club teams to provide their information as well. We would like to keep a record of competing club teams for the community's reference.

List of Future Teams

For the future varsity teams, the below table provides information related to each school and its governing body (NCAA, NAIA, etc.), the conference the flag football team competes, the school's primary conference, and the anticipated first season. Schools without a known flag football conference are classified as an independent team. The table is searchable and can be sorted by any column.

Three NCAA conferences have announced they will begin sponsoring the sport in 2026: Conference Carolinas (D-II), Empire 8 (D-III), and the United East (D-III). The NJCAA's Alabama Community College Conference will also begin sponsoring women's flag football in the 2026 season.
